Striking Out Hunger with the Perry Township GOP Club

Last week, the Perry Township GOP Club hosted a “Strike Out Hunger” bowling fundraiser. It was a great night helping local families in need ahead of the holiday season.

Marion County’s Cycle of Violence

Another weekend, another round of headlines about shootings across Marion County.

It’s tragic how numb we’ve become to this reality. Indianapolis residents, especially those on the East side, are fed up and tired of living amid crime scene tape and police sirens.

According to the residents in this article: "It's not an East side problem, it's a problem in general," said Jay Woods, who lives near where police say a man was shot and killed around 34th and Oxford Tuesday morning.

What makes this worse is when city officials patronize these residents with hollow claims that “homicides are down citywide.” That statistic doesn’t make a single family feel safer.

  • Statistics that claim homicides are down citywide are no substitute for safety, security, and peace of mind. Stats don’t = safety. Don’t let a single Democrat official conflate the two.

  • Mayor Joe Hogsett calls Indianapolis “the safest neighborhood.” Tell that to the 140+ families who’ve been affected by violence this year alone. Kudos to State Rep. Andrew Ireland for exposing Hogsett’s rhetorical miscalculation

  • You should be quick to remind your neighbors, again and again and again, that Republicans on the City-County Council proposed three public safety measures to tackle this violence head-on. Democrats rejected all but one.
