Press Conference Highlights and Hogsett Investigation
Friday, May 30, 2025
This week, Republican City-County Councilors proposed key amendments to redirect funds toward repairing Marion County's crumbling roadways. Their core message: get back to the basics—filling potholes and re-shoring roads—before spending taxpayer funds elsewhere.
Here’s a breakdown of the amendments:
Amendment 1: Republican councilors are putting taxpayer money where it matters — rebuilding Marion County’s broken roads. That means using our finite dollars to the greatest impact; that starts with repairing our roads.
Amendment 2: We’re committed to preserving our forests—while also repaving and reinforcing our roads.
Indianapolis' forests aren’t just green spaces—they’re economic assets that enhance our quality of life and support the local economy. Republican Councilors are focused on maximizing value for taxpayers in this year’s spring fiscal plan. By investing in both our forests and our roads, we’re ensuring a balanced approach that benefits all of Indianapolis.
Amendment 3: The City-County Council refuses to write blank checks; that’s why Republican Councilors are requesting the Office of Public Health and Safety return a detailed proposal on the Indianapolis Foundation's scope of work. Once the foundation produces a plan, the council will produce the funds.

On the Hogsett Administration’s Harassment Investigation:
Mayor Hogsett must be held responsible. Here are just a few reasons why:
The report indicates Mayor Hogsett let his longtime aide skate off despite repeated findings of inappropriate relationships and sexual harassment.
When HR recommended firing Thomas Cook, Hogsett kept him in the job for 68 more days before quietly letting him resign.
The report suggested Cook used those 68 days to line up contract work through his city connections.
The report doesn’t address the fact that after Cook’s resignation, Hogsett put him in charge of his re-election campaign—where new harassment allegations surfaced.
The investigation didn’t even include an interview with Cook, the central figure in the scandal.
Hogsett enabled a known harasser, then handed him a top role on his campaign—it’s indefensible.
BOTTOM LINE: Taxpayers have now spent more than $500,000 for the Democratic majority City-County Council to investigate the Democratic Mayor who allowed his closest aide to repeatedly violate city sexual harassment policies. The Mayor must be held accountable.
