Hogsett’s Whitewashed Investigation
A report released this morning by the IndyStar confirms the investigation into Mayor Hogsett’s top aide Thomas Cook for sexual harassment and abuse of power claims was a complete whitewash.

Inside the Fisher-Philips’ “investigation” (if we can even call it that):

  • All “interviews were not conducted under oath and were not recorded…”

  • The firm failed to provide the City-County Council with “all documentation and interview notes used to create the report…”

  • When asked why the firm failed to subpoena the main perpetrator Thomas Cook, the firm responded: "[it] would have resulted in unnecessary costs and expenses."

  • Omitted details like late-night texts from Hogsett to young subordinates in his circle.

Chairwoman Natalie Goodwin’s Statement:

“New reporting by the Indy Star confirms what we already knew, Council Democrats wasted $450,000 of taxpayer money on a negligent investigation that omitted key details and shielded Mayor Hogsett from any accountability,” said Natalie Goodwin. “The victims deserve better and their fellow citizens should support them in demanding more from those in power.

In Case You Missed It… Republicans Working Toward Solutions

Between Hogsett’s headlines of corruption scandals, after harassment allegation scandals, to poor governance scandals, it can get lost that Marion County Republicans are working toward solutions. Here’s a brief recap:

  • This spring: Council Republicans put forth 3 AMENDMENTS to the Spring Fiscal Package, urging Democrats to “get back to basics” and invest taxpayer funds into Marion County’s crumbling roadways.

  • This summer: Council Republicans put forth 3 AMENDMENTS to improve public safety.

  • This fall: Council Republicans are working toward solutions by hosting conversations with community leaders on homelessness.

Last week, Councilor Michael Paul Hart hosted a discussion on homelessness to begin identifying areas where the City-County Council could step in and provide solutions in the coming weeks and months.

Hogsett’s Culture of Corruption Gets Him Uninvited

This week, the Irvington Community Council, which puts on the Irvington Halloween Festival, uninvited Mayor Hogsett from this year’s event, citing Hogsett’s culture of corruption. You can read the full letter below.
