City Market Opening Delayed, Again

The City Market redevelopment has hit yet another roadblock. This week, we learned the project won’t reopen until at least 2028 because the city dropped its handpicked developers

This comes on the heels of Mirror Indy’s investigative reporting revealing the Mayor’s HR department was audited six years ago, and the results of that audit have still not been released.

The pattern is clear: under weak Democratic leadership, Marion County can expect more broken promises, delayed projects, and a lack of transparency.

Fountain Square Homeless Encampment Shut Down, with No Plan

The City of Indianapolis plans to close the Fountain Square homeless encampment without a clear plan for where to put homeless individuals. 

One possible solution could have been the Central@29 affordable housing project. But that project has been stuck in limbo for 14 years. Yes, fourteen years. City officials blame financing issues and the pandemic. But the real cause is a Democrat administration that governs on autopilot instead of forward thinking.

As IndyStar columnist James Briggs wrote, “The homeless camp there [Fountain Square] reflects an abject failure of city policy…”
