Hogsett Corruption Claims Escalate; Council Dems Continue to Placate
This week, the Indy Star and Mirror Indy published another bombshell report detailing Mayor Hogsett's culture of corruption. Alleging that top campaign donors received city contracts and that a former chief of staff to the mayor was helped into a lucrative job with a major city contractor.
Leaders who tolerate or facilitate backroom deals and quid pro quo politics are not providing the kind of leadership Indianapolis deserves.
Instead of demanding accountability, the Democratic majority on the City-County Council responded with a weak ethics ordinance amendment, a mere slap on the wrist that lets Hogsett off without consequences.
Indy GOP blasted Council Democrats saying; “Only after yet another Hogsett scandal is uncovered in a blockbuster Indianapolis Star / Mirror Indy investigation will the Democratic council majority move to put forward a bare-minimum ethics proposal. Our city deserves better leadership.”
