Last week, we demanded accountability at OPHS after an internal audit exposed the agency’s mismanagement of taxpayer dollars, corruption, and failure to meet contract requirements. The audit found the agency's budget had ballooned by over 75% since its creation, awarded contracts to OPHS staff, and had missing/insufficient invoices. 

An internal audit of the Office of Public Health and Safety (OPHS) reveals serious mismanagement: the agency grossly exceeded its budget, failed to meet basic contract requirements, and lacked proper oversight of taxpayer funds.

In 2023, Mayor Hogsett pledged to redevelop Old City Hall. Nearly three years later, there is not a crane in the sky or shovel in the ground. This week, the IBJ announced the Old City Hall project was canceled––again. Developers cite extensive delays and financial uncertainty by Hogsett’s admin.
