FOUST on WIBC: Indianapolis residents are “Fed up with the status quo”

In a recent interview with WIBC, candidate for Marion County Prosecutor Philip Foust says Indianapolis residents are “fed up with the status quo.”

As prosecutor, Foust will reorient the goals of the prosecutor’s office back to its core mission of “enforcing the law, seeking justice for victims, and protecting the public.”

Recent IU Grad Murdered in Indianapolis

The fatal shooting of a recent Indiana University graduate downtown while he was on his way to meet his parents for a baseball game has once again put Indianapolis’ public safety challenges in the spotlight. Brett Schrogam was allegedly killed by a 14-year-old suspect, renewing concerns about rising juvenile crime and accountability in our capital city.

If we want a window into our future, look at juvenile crime. Candidate for Marion County prosecutor Philip Foust says, “When criminals are coddled and ideological trends are elevated over the basic mission, the law-abiding pay the price. NO MORE!”

At a press conference Friday, Prosecutor Mears said the 14-year-old charged in Brett’s killing will be prosecuted as an adult on a murder charge. More details here.

Crime Spree in Indy and Donut Counties Draws Attention to Weak-Kneed Prosecutor Ryan Mears

Following a string of crimes, Hoosier leaders are calling on Prosecutor Ryan Mears to hold criminals accountable, saying his soft-on-crime approach has emboldened Indianapolis criminals and exported crime from Indianapolis into its donut counties, putting more Hoosier families in danger.

Candidate for Marion County Prosecutor, Philip Foust: "Ryan Mears: The buck stops... everywhere but here. Unfortunately, our current prosecutor is ALLERGIC TO ACCOUNTABILITY: whether for himself or for criminals. He's out here lecturing Carmel’s mayor for singling out Marion County, while a Marion County repeat offender with a 14-page rap sheet — arrested ~50 times since 2019 — is back on the streets carjacking innocent people, seriously injuring one of them, and crashing into a gas station, another vehicle, and then a house.* Nice try. The vast majority of his cases and convictions are right here in Marion County. Enough excuses.”

Carmel Mayor Finkam: “Carmel and other donut county residents pay the price when repeat offenders in Marion County cycle through the system without accountability… It’s time Marion County does their part and holds criminals accountable."

Hamilton County Prosecutor Joshua Kocher criticizes Mears, saying “...a lot of that starts with the prosecutor's office in Marion County. We don't just want to stop crime from spreading to Hamilton County. We want to stop it in Marion County.”

Noblesville Mayor Chris Jensen, X“Proud to stand with my friend @SueFinkam. We don’t just need safe cities, we need a safe region.”
