This Week: Public Safety Conversations, Election Integrity, Democrats in Disarray

Friday, July 11, 2025

We hope you had a restful holiday weekend as we celebrated the 249th anniversary of our great nation. We must never forget how blessed we are to live in America!

Unfortunately, as we celebrated our independence, Indianapolis made national headlines for a series of tragic shootings that left 5 dead and 25 injured. While the Mayor claims that downtown is “the safest neighborhood in our community.” Those stats don’t matter when people are killed in our capital. One life lost is one too many and we must do everything we can to end this violence.

Republicans Taking Action for Public Safety

Yesterday, Council Minority Leader Michael Paul-Hart, Councilors Josh Bain, and Derek Cahill, held a public safety roundtable with Indianapolis’ first responder chiefs and the county prosecutor. Their goal: to listen, learn, and take meaningful action to support first responders and the communities they serve.

Republican councilors are now drafting proposals and amendments aimed at supporting first responders.

Join the Election Integrity Committee!

We’re excited to announce the launch of our Election Integrity Committee, chaired by Sam Dewester. Our goal: to ensure free, fair, and secure elections in Marion County.

Another Week of Democrat’s Disarray

  • Wednesday, a report accused Democrat Councilor Keith Graves, a prominent leader of the Democrat caucus, of sexual abuse.

    • ICYMI, read Natalie Goodwin’s response

  • Democrat Councilor Crista Carlino, who led the Investigative Committee into the Hogsett administration's harassment claims, left the Democratic caucus citing the party’s “lack of leadership” and “abuse of power.”

  • This follows weeks of news regarding Mayor Joe Hogsett’s tolerance of sexual harassment in his administration and claims that the Mayor sent inappropriate late night text messages to young female subordinates.

BETWEEN THE HEADLINES: The Democrat party in Indianapolis is weaker, inept, and more out-of-touch than ever before. Presenting real opportunity for strong, principled Republican leadership in the next election cycle.

  • IndyPolitics: How to Lose a Caucus in 10 Days

“But if this week proved anything, it’s that the Council is far from united—and the cracks are no longer private. This isn’t just about internal drama. It’s about credibility, governance, and the widening gap between what voters expect and what they’re getting. And here’s the hard truth: no amount of finger-pointing or procedural duck-and-cover will fix what’s broken…”

  • Fox59: Proposal to Extend Youth Curfew Hours

Indianapolis FOP President Rick Snyder says a tightening of curfew parameters “...appears to be little more than window dressing on a sinking ship. We are concerned this sudden hard stance (on curfew only) may be too little, too late from Indy’s politicians in charge.”
